Join us for the Nebraska Ornithologists' Union (NOU) Fall Meeting in Kearney, NE 9/11/26-9/13/26!!

The Fri/Sat night social/dinner and programs will be held in the Antelope Room at the Nebraskan Student Union on the University of Nebraska Kearney (UNK) campus, 1013 W 27th St, Kearney, NE 68849.  (Parking-UNK Police will not ticket the residential parking lots adjacent to the Union.)

Friday's Plenary Session will feature scientific research projects** focused on Nebraska's birds and habitat plus a special Plenary Lecture:

The Birds of Nebraska: Through Our Lens-Gabe and Jennifer Rivera of Central Flyway Photography.  Their presentation will be a visual journey through the heart of Nebraska, where the Central Flyway carries millions of birds across the continent each year.  

Saturday (all day) and Sunday (AM) field trips to various tri-city area hotspots will be led by NOU members and the UNK Ornithology program.  Field trips (TBD) may include Harlan Co. Reservoir, Sherman Reservoir, Rowe Sanctuary, Crane Trust, as well as numerous local hotspots, lakes and wildlife management areas in the Tri-City area.  Fall migrants and county birding await for birders of all skill levels.

Dr. Letitia Reichert. Professor and Co-chair Biology Dept.-UNK will give the Saturday night Keynote Address.  Dr Reichert's research focuses on multiple aspects of ornithology, aimed at understanding behavior of birds and habitat requirements for birds. 

Registration is still only $10. All are welcome and you do NOT need to be a member to attend, but you MUST register. Meals are being finalized and will be available for purchase at registration.  
Cutoff date for registration with meal purchase will be 9/1/2026, so please register early.

Book your hotels or campsites anywhere in the Kearney area and prepare for a weekend filled with education, fall migrants and comraderie with fellow NOU members.

**Researchers interested in presenting should provide author information, title and short abstract to the NOU President for consideration.  Accepted abstracts will be published in a future edition of the Nebraska Bird Review.
